Engineer Job in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Under the direction of a Project Manager, prepare concept designs for roadway design, water and sewer, site development and mining projects. DUTIES Receives direction and instructions from the Project Manager on approved roadway design, mining, water and sewer and/or site development projects. Obtains surveys from the survey CAD file and conducts field reviews to verify and qualify surveys and/or digitally prepared maps. Prepares the technical design concept of the project. Initiates permitting through appropriate state and local agencies. Oversees and directs the work activities of CAD Technicians in the preparation of preliminary and final drawings. Establishes time frames for the completion of the drawings. Checks drawings for accuracy to ensure quality control (QC) standards have been met. Prepares bid documents containing technical specifications and contract administration to bind into contract. Researches new products for implementation into concept designs. Maintains a good design filing system. Provides for effective communications and coordination of efforts between design and support services, such as Survey and Mapping. Maintains an ongoing dialog with the Project Manager on the status of a project. QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and Experience. A college graduate with a degree in civil engineering, or related area of specialization is required. Must be a registered Professional Engineer. Special courses in applied engineering sciences and information technology beneficial. Five or more years of progressive professional and management experience in the technical and practical aspects of transportation and civil works engineering to acquire sufficient background with which to assume the responsibilities of the position. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS: Physical Activities of the Job. This job requires the following physical activities: Climbing (stairs), balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Visual Acuity Requirements of the Job. This job meets the minimum standards for use with those whose work deals largely with computer operations at distances close to the eyes. The incumbent to this job must have the ability to work under conditions requiring considerable attention to detail. Physical Requirements of the Job.
