Design Engineer As a member of Ordered Motion Systems (OMS) Engineering Department, you will be responsible for designing and supporting innovative, high-quality products. You will also serve as a technical resource for both internal and external customers. You will be supporting OMS’s company goals, and contributing to the continuous improvement efforts. Job Functions 1. Review customer Requests for Quote (RFQ), determines the appropriate bidding method, and generate an accurate cost and lead time. 2. Using Solidworks 3D CAD system, develop solid models, create detail drawings and bill of materials, and complete project documentation for new products. 3. Develop innovative, value-added products in response to market trends and needs. 4. Process Engineering Changes for product improvements. 5. Research, develop, and implement engineering tools such as analytical calculations, work instructions and templates, FEA, CFD, etc. 6. Provide technical support for other OMS departments including materials review, non-conforming product analysis, process improvements, and sales efforts. 7. Work in a manufacturing environment, including providing technical support, product troubleshooting, and hands-on assistance. 8. Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer support, job training, or sales meetings. 9. Interacts with OMS customers to review applications, suggest product improvements, present new concepts and products, and follow-up support actions. 10. Continuously seek out and implement improvements throughout the organization. Job Qualifications 1. 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited program. 2. Experience with hydraulic cylinder design. Coursework or training in hydraulic systems, hardware, and circuits is an additional plus. 3. Welding knowledge of ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1. Experience writing weld procedures, welder qualifications, and non-destructive testing techniques. 4. Proficient in using Solidworks 3D CAD. 5. Ability to interpret and complete instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 6. Experience working in a manufacturing environment which included machining, welding, assembly and testing, and a documented quality system. 7. Ability to comprehend and develop practical solutions to problems where information is limited. 8. Must be able to interact and communicate in a professional, effective manner with customers, suppliers, and OMS personnel. 9. Must be a self-starter, able to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision or direction. 10. Self-directed individual able to multi-task, determine priorities, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
